It took some time for me to convince my partner to relocate. I’d gotten a good job in another city and rented a small apartment in the area. My partner was back at home and I had to get on a plane every other weekend to go see her and our son. While this was quite possible, I fell in love with the new area and was trying hard to get her to visit. Finally, one day she gave in and came to stay for a week with our son. It took her a few days to realize this was an amazing place to raise a child, houses were affordable and there were some good schools. We sold our home, looked for a new one and bought it within the span of a month. Lucky for us, we planned the move in spring when we didn’t quite need the air conditioning because there was none in the new house. About two weeks after moving in and setting the beds, we set about searching for an HVAC enterprise in the area to come install a new air conditioner in the house. The day they sent over a team to do the installation, my partner was at the hospital with our son and I was at work. It would take much longer to schedule another date for the HVAC installation so we trusted them to do a good job. But, that evening, when we got home and tested the air conditioner, nothing worked. This was an early indicator of poor installation so I called the company once more to send HVAC techs to come fix the issue as soon as possible.
