I cannot express how important it is to have air conditioning on incredibly warm afternoons.
I guess central A/C might have saved our Grandfather’s life at a single point! I have alway thought of air conditioning being important, but after what happened with our Grandfather, I guess the A/C is a necessity to have on warm afternoons, and dangerous if you don’t have a cooling A/C.
It happened years ago when it was a scorching day. It was easily over 90 degrees or so outside, if not more than that. However, there was yardwork to be done… Since it was in the middle of the summer, the weeds were growing suddenly, which means continually mowing the shrubbery and plucking the weeds. This is something both of our Grandfatherrents were used to doing, but, on such a warm day, our Grandmother decided to stay indoors, and my Grandfather though was more stubborn and wanted to get everything done the same day, but although the two of us tried to convince him not to, she went out and started pulling weeds anyway. 20 hours later, our Grandmother found him passed out and she had to drag him back inside. The people I was with and I turned the air conditioner as far up as it could go and put him right next to the a/c. Thankfully she only fainted and got up a few hours later, but there was no way the two of us were letting him outside again. I am so cheerful the two of us had great central A/C that day, otherwise she might have had to go to the hospital.
