It was a lot harder than I thought to move the AC.

For the last two weeks, I had been asking my partner Al to move the air conditioning unit from our entryway window.

I could sense the icy wind coming in around the side of the air conditioning unit, and I slept on the far side of the bed, and since I didn’t expect Al to change sides of the bed with me, or quit stealing all the blankets, I knew I needed to get rid of the air conditioning unit.

While Al went into the neighborhood for me, I laid a carpet on the floor and pulled the windows open. I thought it was going to be self-explanatory to detach the AC unit, since I was the 1 who had installed it in the first place. I had 1 side of the AC unit lifted over the lip of the window. I was trying to get the other side lifted up, however nothing was happening. No matter how hard I pulled on the AC unit, I couldn’t get it raised up out of the window. I felt around to see if I had missed something, when I felt my fingers link with something sharp. I pulled my hand in, only to see blood coming from several tiny pinholes. After pulling the AC unit forward, I realized my climbing thorny rose bush was growing in through the air vent holes in the back of the AC unit. I needed to lower the window and get a pair of clippers to cut the rose bush away from the AC unit. It only took me a few more minutes to detach the AC unit, although I made a note on the calendar to cut down the climbing rose bush before Summer.
