Packaged unit can’t keep up with horrible Winter weather

My husband plus I were seriously happy to transport south.

Both of us bought a apartment in an area with long, sizzling summers plus short, mild winters.

The residence is equipped with a packaged unit that provides both heating plus cooling. It works by transferring heat from 1 location to another. In cooling mode, the system pulls heat out of the air plus delivers it outside by way of refrigerant. In heating mode, the system draws ambient heat from the outside air, compresses it to a higher temperature plus delivers it indoors. The first Winter both of us spent in the house, the weather set records for chilly temperature. Both of us had been told that the low un-even temperatures never drop further than the high forties. That winter, the temperature plummeted into the twenties. Our furnace couldn’t keep up. Both of us bundled up in layers of sweatshirts plus heavy socks, several times, the heating unit froze, plus both of us needed to shut it off undoubtedly plus attempt to thaw it out, my husband finally bought an electric heating system that is designed to look love a wood-burning stove. It adds some ambience plus also some extra heat; Just that little electric heating system was enough to make a difference in our level of comfort. Both of us have not needed the electric heating system since that first year… We’ve now lived in the apartment for 6 years. The winters have been lovelyly mild. However, if both of us get another especially chilly season, we’ll be ready. I am especially thankful that we’ve never had any complaints with the system in cooling mode. It undoubtedly combats the high heat plus humidity both of us face for more than half the year.
