A ductless mini split unit can cool up to 8 rooms

The ease of installation is a great selling point for these mini split units

Last year, I purchased a new HVAC unit for a rental property that I have. And instead of spending some time researching new systems, I allowed my handyman/HVAC service guy to take care of buying and installing the unit for me. He found a new HVAC unit for a reasonable price, and he was able to install the new unit with no issues at all. Well, after the unit was installed, I was having a convo with a friend, who mentioned that he too just installed a new HVAC unit inside one of his rental properties. Unlike my unit, this was a ductless mini split air conditioning and heating unit. I have heard of the ductless mini split A/Cs before, but I thought they were only used for small spaces. To my surprise, the unit can cool an entire home. He told me that one outside condenser can support up to 8 air handlers. Usually, I have seen ductless mini split units being used in tiny homes as well as small living spaces, so I was completely clueless to this information. Had I known that the ductless mini split unit could cool an entire house, I would have opted to invest in that type of system instead of the regular HVAC unit that uses air ducts. The ease of installation is a great selling point for these mini split units. I discovered that the upfront cost is a bit higher than a regular HVAC unit, but I believe the benefits are worth the extra investment. The next time I need to purchase a new HVAC unit for a rental property, I will consider investing in a mini split unit.
