I could no longer see the thermostat.

I knew my eyes were getting bad, but I didn’t think they were so bad I could no longer see the thermostat.

I looked more closely at the thermostat, but it wasn’t clear.

I called the eye doctor and got an appointment to see if my eyes were getting worse. The eye doctor took me in the next day, and he said I had good eyesight, but it was getting a little weak because of age. He wouldn’t recommend that I get glasses, but he thought a little help would be good when reading. I asked if my eyesight was bad enough that it would stop me from reading a thermostat. He asked how big the thermostat was, and I told him it was a digital and about five inches long. He said my eyesight shouldn’t interfere with reading the thermostat. He suggested I call the HVAC company and see if there was something wrong with the readout. When I got home, I called my son and asked when he was going to come for a visit. He asked if I needed something? When I told him I had to go to the eye doctor, he got concerned. There was nothing wrong with my eyesight, but he thought there could be something wrong with my thermostat since I couldn’t read it. He showed up the next day and gave me a quick and easy answer. The light on the dial wasn’t working. He brought a new thermostat with him that had a bigger face, and the light was lit. I could read the thermostat with no trouble.
