The house was so old; it didn’t have an HVAC system.

My brother bought a house last week, and he had only seen it on the computer.

He thought the house was pretty from the outside, but no one told him when the picture had been taken.

We walked into the house, and it devastated him. The house had been gutted and there was no running water, electricity, or HVAC system. Even the fireplace was in such disrepair that there was no way it was going to work. He asked me what I thought, and I told him to walk away and cut his losses. He told me his wife was set on moving into this house and making it a home. I wanted to take pictures and send them to her, but he wouldn’t let me. I just wanted to take a picture of the fireplace, but he said he would throw my phone in the trash, so I didn’t. I had taken pictures of the rest of the house as we were walking through, and I had already sent them to her. Half an hour later, she was texting my brother and asked what they were going to do with the place? He told her the fireplace was irreparable, and there was no water, electric, or HVAC system. She said they had to cut their losses, losses and get rid of the house, even if it meant burning it down for the insurance. I laughed when I saw the look of relief on my brother’s face. As much as he was sure my sister-in-law wanted the house, when she said get rid of it, I swore his smile was going to swallow his face.
