For two years, I have been working as a residential HVAC repair technician.
- I worked for a well-known company in the city with offices on the east side and the West side.
I enjoyed working as a residential HVAC repair technician, but I knew that I wasn’t going anywhere with the company. There was one guy that had been there for 5 years and he was still working in the same job. When I had the opportunity to start a business of my own, I jumped on the chance. At first I started off with residential Heating and AC repairs. Every once in a while I handled an installation job. One of my old customers at the previous HVAC repair center called me and wanted to know if I could handle commercial work as well. I did not have the proper insurance at the time, but I found out exactly what kind of insurance I needed. I went to the broker and added enough insurance so that I could pick up the commercial property. After I raised my insurance limits, I started looking for additional commercial businesses. It actually wasn’t that hard to get new customers, especially when I offered to cut the existing prices by 10% after cutting my prices by 10%, I was easily the lowest price carrier in the area for all of the heating and AC repair needs. I’ve managed to pick up a lot of business since then and the biggest reason is due to the lower prices. It won’t be long before I can compete with some of the big name brand chains.
