I had a lot of fun when I was in college, even when I was living on campus.
It was difficult for the two years I stayed on campus, but I had a lot of fun meeting friends and exploring the world around us. Not all of the dorm rooms were at the same quality though, because one of the dorm Halls had recently been remodeled and given better rooms. Her freshman students, we had three different dorm halls and just one of them had been remodeled. Honestly I didn’t think I would be lucky enough to be thrown in the remodeled dorm Hall but I was. Also, that year we only had two students per room. The year prior they had a larger incoming class and stuck three students per room. I think they realized that it had a negative effect on attrition rates, because so many students dropped out that year. I suppose in some Gambit to retain more students for the following years, they figured they would reduce the incoming class size. The dorm room I had as a freshman actually had an adjustable thermostat in it. From what I remember, the other dorm rooms had thermostats that were locked by the administration. That meant that my roommate and I could essentially set the temperature to whatever we want in the heating and cooling system. However, my roommate and I both had completely different energy preferences. My roommate preferred the room to be warmer, while I preferred the room to be colder. So I would set the air conditioner at times when he would prefer the air conditioner to be off.
