The HOA hated I wasn’t a conformist and bought ductless HVAC.

I’m not sure how the HOA could give themselves so many rights over the people who owned homes in their area.

  • We paid the taxes.

We paid the mortgage. We did all the work in our yards. When I needed a new HVAC system, I was unsure if I wanted a traditional central heating and air conditioning system. My husband and I were talking about getting rid of the HVAC system and installing a mini split ductless HVAC system. He thought we should talk to the HOA before making any changes, and I thought he lost his mind. Once again, I was wondering what right the HOA had to tell me what I could do with my home. I was going to put the HVAC system into my home that was right for our needs. I was tired of the rising prices of heating fuel. We couldn’t afford to pay our bills this winter, and it was warmer than usual. If we had sub-freezing temperatures, we would have needed to let another bill sit, or cut back on food. I wanted an HVAC system that didn’t make us make a choice. What I really hated about the HOA was that people really thought they had to ask their permission. We decided to purchase the ductless HVAC system, and if the HOA didn’t like it, they would need to pay our energy bills. I was done with their tyranny and holier than thou attitude. I was saving energy, and the efficiency of the new HVAC system would save the environment. My husband is still worried about what they’ll say when the HVAC system gets installed next week.
