I had to live for 6 months in an outdated house with a few friends! It was just for one year after my friend and I got off campus, then we were sick of paying so much currency for dormitories that were not any better than half of the apartments in our city, however, my friend and I soon found out that renting that outdated house was a lot more than my friend and I expected in the start.
It would have helped a lot if either of us had any experience with house repair and fixing regular complications.
I remember the first time one of our breakers went out in the house! None of us knew how to go to the electrical panel to switch the circuit and get it back into working mode. I felt embarrassed having to call my parents and ask them… But eventually my friend and I started to figure it out to some extent, but the air conditioner in that house was really poor. It was outdated and it was inefficient with the electrical consumption. However there was a heating coil inside the air conditioner that functioned as the electric heater; Surprisingly that heating coil got fairly moderate and was pretty great at heating the house, but as bad as the air conditioner wasn’t that outdated house, the outdated heater was fairly decent, every time I’ve used an electric heater since, it’s been fairly terrible. Most of the time they are not any great at heating the air that goes through them, then you have to realize that fan-forced cheating is inherently inefficient because the air is cooling the coils as it’s passing over them.
