Something was stuck in the garbage disposal

Last week I left the kids at the house all weekend alone. It’s the first time that I left them at the house all weekend. I’ve left the kids for a couple of hours and I even left them overnight one or two times. The kids are all teenagers and I should be able to leave them at the house without having to worry a great deal. I went away with my boyfriend on Friday and Saturday night. When I came back on Sunday, everything in the house seemed fine except for the garbage disposal. Something sounded like it was stuck in the bottom. I used the flashlight to look inside of the garbage disposal and I didn’t really see anything that looked out of place. There was still a weird and odd sound coming from the machine. Since I could not pinpoint a problem, I decided to simply stop using the garbage disposal until I could get my boyfriend to the house to look at it. He works as a contractor and I knew he would be able to fix it if he had some time. Unfortunately for me, the next day there was a back up in the sink and the drain was clogged. I thought the drainage problem was likely due to the problem with the garbage disposal. My boyfriend was already busy so I decided to contact an emergency plumber nearby that offers same day service and reasonable rates. I found out that the kids had accidentally ground up a plastic fork and knife. The pieces caused a drainage problem under the kitchen sink.
