I bought a fixer-upper, but unfortunately, the HVAC installation was damaged beyond repair.
I’d been hoping that a simple air conditioner tune-up would help, but the a/c worker who assessed it concluded that it had maxed out its life.
I had two options, to install a larger electric heat pump that would serve the whole house or buy the ductless mini-split unit and provide air conditioning for some of the rooms until I could afford a bigger and quality HVAC unit. The cooling specialist at the cooling corporation listened to what I wanted and thought about the installation, and convinced me to go big the first time; otherwise, I would spend much more than I intended. I got the heat pump at the indoor comfort business with the help of an a/c professional to ensure that I bought one that would be compatible with the space it was meant for. It came with its digital thermostat, just like I expected. I had taken an alternative option to help with indoor comfort. I appreciated all the help I got at the local business from the technicians because I had yet to learn how AC systems worked and what would be adequate for the space since I would be working alone. I had a lot of work to do at the house, so since I had already worked out the air conditioning budget, I could go ahead with the rest of the work and do the installation last to avoid contamination issues. I still made good but expensive decisions because in the three years I’ve lived in the house, gradually making the changes that were not a priority, the air conditioning service has not revealed any major issues with my HVAC option.
