Fair was moved

For the past several weeks I have been preparing for a large craft fair in my area with great excitement and anxiety. It was going to be my very first craft fair ever, and I couldn’t wait to display my pieces for the general public. I have only sold items online before, so showcasing my work in person was a huge deal to me. I couldn’t wait to directly offer my products and receive feedback from other people. Then I got the bad news. The fair was double booked and had to be relocated. Suddenly, the event wasn’t going to be held indoors with the comfort of modern air temperature control systems anymore. Instead, the whole fair was to be moved outdoors. This means I can’t count on ideal air conditions for me or my work anymore. Before, I was blissfully waiting to walk into a large warehouse space and set up my booth in the comfort of adequate central air conditioning. The whole venue would be a brisk 60 degrees, and there would be large fans blowing any hot air back out onto the street. My pieces and I would be safe from heat and humidity, and looking our best for the public. Now, I am having visions of sitting outdoors in the pounding sun all day. I will be sweating through my shirt and desperately fanning myself with brochures. I can assume it will be ridiculously humid, and my products could be affected by the airborne moisture as they sit for hours. If I wasn’t anxious enough for the show before, I certainly am now!

Different temp at every bar

One of the best parts about going back to my previous home town is getting to meet up with my old friends and run around town like we’re still in college.

It’s a hoot to visit all of our old hangs together.

I really love to see how the town has changed and what has stayed exactly the same. It’s always a nostalgic and wild night, to be sure. This past weekend was no different. We all got together and had a few cocktails before hitting the streets. When we left we made sure to wear plenty of layers because it was quite warm outside, but the setting sun was certainly going to decrease the outdoor air temperature any time. It’s a good thing that we all had such versatile layers of clothing, because we wound up going through several outfit changes. Your see, when we went out bar hopping we didn’t imagine that the borderline-spring air would be so confusing for every drinking establishment in town. Apparently none of them knew how to handle the lukewarm outdoor climate. Some of the bars still had their heat cranked on level 11, creating a warm and dry desert inside. Meanwhile, a good portion of them actually had kickstarted their air conditioning systems already, and there was cool air flowing from every direction inside. As we passed from establishment to establishment, we could not find cohesion between these temperature settings. Everyone took off and put back on their layers of sweaters and jackets all night long. It was an exhausting night from the costume changes alone.

Getting new apartment

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about trying to strike out on my own.

I think I might want to get my own place in town, rather than staying at the same old house we’ve been renting.

There’s no problem at all with the house itself; I love that it’s so large, well maintained, and the property is delightful for lazy afternoons lounging in the sun. The only issues I have with living here are the continual personal tension between the other inhabitants, and the faulty HVAC system. That’s why I’m going to be especially careful when apartment shopping. The very last thing that I want is more uneven, wildly fluctuating temperatures throughout my place. For the past year I’ve lived with a strange temperature gradient that extends from my workspace through the kitchen and into the upstairs bedrooms. Every single room is a distinct temperature. As you pass from space to space, you feel a noticeable chill or overheating. I’ve tried to use fans to even out the heating and cooling system in these spaces, but the extra ventilation just seems to create a larger draft. Now I’m hyper vigilant about researching every make and model of heating and cooling system when I visit a potential apartment. I have several HVAC dealerships on speed dial, and I regularly chat with my new friend at the ventilation department. I’m sure I’m driving my real estate agent insane with all my HVAC questions, but I refuse to relocate unless the move will be an improvement on my current living situation!

Party gets strange

I really love hanging out with my old group of friends.

They are my favorite people in the world and I would do anything to spend my time with them.

That’s why it was really exciting that everyone was going to be in town this past weekend for a giant get together. It was an awesome night wandering the town and getting bibulous together, but it ended rather strangely in the early morning hours. See, we were all partying and getting quite debaucherous when we went back to my friend Aidan’s house. The apartment wasn’t exactly large enough for everyone to fit comfortably, but we made it work. Soon however, the thermostat really wasn’t able to keep up with our temperature demands. The large group of people was heating up his apartment and causing the thermostat to cycle on and off at a rapid pace. Then people began going outside to smoke, letting in tons of ice cold outdoor air. This further confused the situation, and soon the air temperature inside was wildly fluctuating between hot and cold temperatures. To make matters even worse, one of our friends locked himself in the bathroom in a dramatic move, so we couldn’t even focus on fixing the air conditions before trying to pry him off the tiled floor all night. By the end of the evening everyone was exhausted and drenched in sweat. We all passed out on random pieces of furniture and awoke the next morning to find that the entire heating and cooling system failed during our night of shenanigans.

Long car rides are uncomfortable

I think part of the problem is contending with the pounding sun, which distinctly boils whomever is sitting in direct sunlight

I don’t know if there’s anyone on earth who takes more long road trips than we do. I’m sure there’s a blogger or adventurist out there somewhere who tops our annual road mileage, but I think that we are above average when it comes to long weekend trips. It seems like every weekend or two we load up the car, pack a bunch of snacks, and hit the road for the next 8-10 hours. I’ve gotten used to these long car rides for the most part and they don’t really bum me out, but there is one area that continually bothers me. The car thermostat can never be set at the ideal temperature conditions for everyone in the vehicle. I swear, every time I’m too hot, my boyfriend is too cold. Every time he’s too hot, I’m too cold. We go back and forth fiddling with the temperature setting and fan speed for the entire trip. Every time someone touches the air temperature controls, there’s an audible moan throughout the vehicle. Imminently, this air condition adjustment is absolutely deleterious to the other party. I think part of the problem is contending with the pounding sun, which distinctly boils whomever is sitting in direct sunlight. The other issue is how harsh the air conditioning feels when it flows from the air vents. Both of these conditions put together guarantee that no one will ever be adequately comfortable when we’re road warriors. Unless we can find a way to individually heat and cool sections of the mini van, I don’t think we’ll ever beat the thermostat.

Staying at friends house

I felt trapped inside a sweltering oven all night long

Despite living over 600 miles away, I am very lucky to be able to return to my old place of residence quite frequently. Whenever we go back up north for business or family matters, I also get to see all of my very best friends in the world. My friends are so sweet and generous that they always offer us a bed when we roll into town. I am so happy to be able to stay with them, but occasionally it can get uncomfortable to stay at someone else’s house. Just this past visit we were completely destroyed by my friend’s heating and cooling system settings, for instance. When we arrived to his apartment it felt very pleasantly warm, and I was so happy to soak up the moderate air flowing from the air vents. It felt fantastic to be out of the cold and wind outside, and his furnace was evenly warming the entire place efficiently. I didn’t realize, however, that at night this heater would be the death of me. When we laid down to fall asleep, suddenly the indoor air conditions were entirely too hot. I guess my friend doesn’t turn his thermostat down at night, because we were both sweating through the sheets.I tried to open the window for some cool, fresh air, but the window was jammed in the frame. I couldn’t even turn on a fan, because the overhead unit was rocking dangerously when I turned it on for ventilation. I felt trapped inside a sweltering oven all night long. It was a good day, but I was exhausted for the drive home.

Glad I’m consistently over prepared – heating system at hotel

My friends plus family are consistently chuckling about how much upset energy I have, plus how deeply I overthink things.

They love the fact that I get so scheduled out to go to the grocery store that I’ll wind up in a puddle of tears.

They taunt me over my inability to decide what to eat at every meal. They suppose it’s adorable that I consistently overpack the vehicle to prepare for every worst case scenario, even on short weekend trips, but well, after this past weekend they started giving me a little more credit, after my overthinking saved us from disaster, then my buddy and I were traveling though the mountains plus pulled over at a janky hotel when the roads got too dark for safety. The only problem was, when my friend and I entered our odory little room, the air was cold cold. I mean, literally the indoor air temperature was below 30 degrees upon entering. The front desk clerk told us in a bored tone that the heating system units all worked similarly in the hotel, plus he didn’t have another room or heating system to offer us; He was unconcerned with our clattering teeth, plus never even gave to call an Heating plus Air Conditioning professional or the maintenance department; Everyone was starting to get slightly hysterical, talking about cold to death in the evening plus making backup plans to sleep in the vehicle with the heat on all evening. That’s when I calmly walked out to the van, rummaged around, plus emerged victoriously with a small electric heating system in hand. The space heating system was powerful enough to raise the temperature in our room near 55 degrees, plus my friend and I comfortably made it to see afternoonlight… Good thing I was prepared for a total Heating plus Air Conditioning failure wherever my friend and I travelled.

Storms were fun at first

My entire life, I have absolutely enjoyed big storms. I don’t know what it is about pounding rain, ringing thunder, and flashes of brilliant lightening, however I’m completely entranced by these big weather events. I love resting out, enjoying the trees bend, and feeling tiny in the large power of the storm. I also cherish sleeping peacefully at night, with the sheets of rain lulling me into a deep slumber. I’ve never experienced a large thunderstorm that I didn’t appreciate… until last month. Our region quickly transitioned from bitterly frosty winter to sizzling and humid summer, with unquestionably little time in between. With this enormous air quality change, so came a sizable series of tumultuous storms. I was in heaven, basking in the sounds and sights… until the air conditioning quit. All of a sudden, there was a sizable gust of wind, a loud crash, and the condo began to feel quite stagnant. I went to the temperature control to investigate, and found that the air conditioning device had gone offline. Peering out back into the darkness, I saw our A/C device hidden beneath a large limb when the next flash of lightning lit up the yard. Fantastic. It was so brutal outside that my associate and I couldn’t even venture out to investigate the central cooling system disfigurement. My nice friend and I thought that was going to be a exhausting expense, however had no idea what else was coming our way. With another sizable gust of wind, a large limb fell onto the side of our house, crushing the west wall and bringing the air ducts down with it. Not only did my associate and I receive a sizable insurance claim and household construction project, however our entire central cooling system and sizable portion of our air HVAC duct had to be substituted in the wake of the storms.

Glad I’m always over prepared – furnace at hotel

Neighbor interrupts construction for Heating, Ventilation plus A/C advice

Sometimes I worry about being a guy.

  • It’s not that I feel continually threatened by guys or any crazy hubbub like that, although there are plenty of sincere creepers out there.

I worry more about the likelihood that I am taken fortune of when I lack technical expertise traditionally held by masculine figures. For instance, when I’m upsold a full set of current tires because one of mine has a slow leak. Or the time I paid $2000 in “critical” repairs to my car, which evidently included replacing the battery plus rotating my tires. Or even the afternoon my neighbor had to get involved to save me from a crooked Heating, Ventilation plus A/C specialist, selling me recycled heating plus cooling supplies. That one really needs more explanation, however see, I was renovating a few spaces in my house, when the supplier realized that my indoor ventilation plan could use a crucial replace. Since we were already doing work on the house, I went ahead plus contacted the heating plus cooling specialist he commanded , plus we started talking about current AC plus heating system equipment. My superb friend and I discussed current ductwork plus replacing the air intake handler, as well. Everything seemed on the up plus up, until the afternoon that all my current Heating, Ventilation plus A/C device was being delivered. Suddenly my neighbor wandered over, plus was curiously asking pointed questions plus checking out the large machinery in my yard. He hummed plus hawed for a moment, plus then In the battach of an eye, he was demanding the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C device was taken away. He started yelling at the ventilation specialists to take back their used heating plus cooling devices. He said they better not show their faces again until they had the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C device that we agreed upon, in brand current plus working order! Thank god he knew better than I.
