This system uses both natural gas and and electric heat pump to give us year round comfort and save us money on our utility bills. A heat pump simply exchanges the air from hot to cold depending upon the temperature settings on the controls. If it is too hot in the house, the pump can remove the heat from the house. It works by moving heat from one place to the other. If it is too cold, it can move heat from the place to place as well. These systems work best in areas of the country that have moderate winter temperatures. Even if it seems cold outside in these areas, there is still some warmth in the air and they can move this heat indoors. If it gets too cold outside, our second system will kick in and the gas powered furnace will make sure that our house is comfortable as well. The last thing I want is to be cold. When I am home I look forward to relaxing and spending time with family. If I need to wear layers of clothing just to be warm it is uncomfortable. I work many hours and my home is my happy place. I want to take care of it but not spend a fortune each month to maintain it as well. This dual system allows me to have the best of all worlds.
