Dad wasn’t sure about hiring a new AC expert

We’ve lived in the exact location since I was born.

Mom and dad had opted to move from the big city to a smaller town to give us kids a better quality of life. We not only had a backyard to play but there were parks and woods with the open country all around. Yes, at times, the area was boring for us kids, but we made the best of it. We’d go on many adventures in the woods. One thing I noticed about dad is he wasn’t big on change. The first person to service and fix our central HVAC system remains the exact one to date. He is a lovely old fellow who thrives as an AC technician. He’s well-liked and knows a lot about heating and cooling. Dad is good friends with him, so he was shocked when the AC technician informed dad he was retiring. As an independent AC technician, he had made a good life for himself. But, he felt it was time to hang his tools and spend more time with his family, especially his grandkids. As much as dad understood his reason for early retirement, he was also hesitant about hiring a new AC technician. It meant dad had to find a new AC business and see if they had qualified AC technicians to do the job. I overheard him on the phone explaining to another friend the predicament he was facing now that the independent AC technician had stopped working. Still, even though he didn’t like it, he knew he had to find another qualified person to service or fix the central HVAC system.
