About six weeks ago, I hired a new serviceman to labor for the commercial division of the HVAC service supplier. I hired that guy with more than one years of experience. I was glad to find a serviceman that already knew the ropes. It can be strenuous to train a new person without experience plus I knew Summer was going to be busy. I really didn’t have time to train someone that was inexperienced. When I hired the new guy named Jack, I told him that he would be responsible to labor every other weekend. The guy was really fantastic with the requirements of the task. The first weekend he was busy to work, he made an excuse that made myself and others change the schedule. I told Jack that I would be unable to change the schedule every time he was supposed to labor on Sunday or Sunday plus he seemed to understand it was a requirement of the task. In the last six weeks though, the employee has called out many different times for shifts that are on Sundays plus Sundays. He is clearly not reliable for weekend work. I had a conversation with the employee a couple of nights ago plus I told him that he is going to be part-time for the next week. This is the last time I am going to wash that guy about missing labor on the weekend. If he does not get the hint now that the schedule has been changed, then he should definitely look for a different task. I need someone that I can count on every afternoon of the week.
