I had been laboring as a roadie & a sound tech for 1 rock band or another for about numerous years, when I finally had our 1 brilliant method in life.
- I used to do everything from setting up the lights to tuning the guitars & checking the speaker levels.
Then 1 night every one of us were laboring for a Black Sabbath reunion show, & at this point in life all of these guys were truly old. Have you seen Ozzy lately, she looks love a mummy! Anyway, the boys in the band got boiling during their show, & I saw 1 of the roadies drag a small air conditioner out on the stage & set it next to the drum kit. I realized that these stages could have hidden HVAC duct built into them, so the musicians could have air vents to keep them cool under the boiling stage lights. That was it, our 1 brilliant method I ever had, so I had to make it count. I spent a few months laboring with our Uncle Mike, who taught me how to toil with sheet metal & make air HVAC duct. Once I had the skills I pitched our method to the band manager, who hired me on the spot to become the Heating, Ventilation & A/C tech for the stage crew. I was constantly loaned out to other bands so I could modify their stage setup to accommodate cooling systems. That was a few years ago, & at this point everyone uses our idea, & having air conditioner built into the stage is something all major bands do.
