Window air conditioners work out well

The summer weather in my local area only lasts for a couple of months.

There are some years when we enjoy hot, sunny conditions from the end of April until the end of August.

There are other years when we might only get two weeks of hot weather. It’s not uncommon to have rainy and chilly summers. Our season doesn’t require the investment into central air conditioning. For quite a few years, my family managed with just open windows, box fans, ceiling fans and window fans. Since we spend the majority of our time outside, it wasn’t that big of a problem. At night, trying to sleep could be difficult. I finally decided to purchase window air conditioners for the bedrooms. I watched for sales during the off-season and managed to buy four cooling units at a reasonable price. I was surprised by how compact and lightweight the air conditioners are. The process of installing them was extremely easy and required a simple mounting bracket. I then set the air conditioner into the window, plug it in and turn it on. Despite the small size, the air conditioners quickly cool down a sizable bedroom. Because we only run the cooling units at night, I don’t notice much of an increase in the electric bill. We start up the air conditioners about fifteen minutes before we head to bed. My whole family sleeps much better because of the cooling units. They not only maintain a comfortable temperature but help to circulate the air and filter out dust, pollen and other contaminants. The operation makes just enough noise to drown out the sound of traffic, early morning birds and barking dogs. One of the best features is the cordless remote. We can turn the system on or off, raise or lower temperature and adjust fan speed without getting out of bed. Plus, each one of us can customize the settings to personal preference.
