I’ve always heard about air conditioning systems giving out during the worst of times, but I never thought that I’d be in a situation like that myself. Unfortunately, my lack of HVAC maintenance caught up with me and my air conditioning system stopped working during one of the hottest heat waves, putting me in a terrible position. I called the HVAC company and asked them for help, but they were so busy that there was a one week waiting list. They said that if there were any cancellations, then they would call me back. At first, I thought that I could survive in my house without an air conditioning system if I opened the doors and windows. However, the open doors and windows meant that the sun was continuously beaming inside and heating my home even further. I quickly realized that I needed to find somewhere else to stay. Thankfully, my parents didn’t live far away and I was able to stay at their house where the air conditioning actually worked. After a few days went by, I called the HVAC company again to see if anyone had canceled, but I had no luck. I was just going to need to wait until my scheduled appointment. Although my parents were great, I missed my own bed and I hated that I’d been so careless with my HVAC maintenance, which led to a broken air conditioning system in the first place. I vowed to never miss another HVAC tune up again, especially during the spring!
