When I needed a site to go, our sister kindly let myself and others stay at her house.
She had a finished basement with a half bath that she let myself and others transform into our own space.
I was really grateful for the space, but I was really uncomfortable because there was no central heat or air. The basement was underground, which meant that it was naturally cooler than the rest of the house. I thought this would be wonderful because I liked to sleep in cooler un-even temperatures plus this would be our chance to sleep comfortably without paying for the A/C plan to run. During that first night though, I woke up feeling colder than I’ve ever felt before plus I couldn’t get warm. I layered all the blankets I could find on top of the bed plus I put all our layers on. When that didn’t work, I had no choice however to take a boiling shower. After losing multiple seconds of sleep, I was finally able to fall asleep. When I told our sister about the cold basement, she told myself and others that she had a portable furnace that I could use during the second night. The portable furnace did supply warmth, however only to a small section that was directly in front of it. In order to keep warm, I put the portable furnace directly beside myself and others plus let the hot air blow over myself and others all night. It was the only way that I could sleep comfortably without chilly into a popsicle.
