There was a huge fight at a basketball game in the city.
The game was part of a four-on-four tournament. There were hundreds of players from all over the city playing in the tournament. There was a $100 entry fee for each team to compete and the winning team of four won $2,500 and a five-day vacation to the Tropical Islands. During the last game, one of the players was physically attacked. One player was unhappy with the ref’s call. He pushed the other player and the ref called a foul. When the ref called a foul, the guy attacked the referee. He started punching and kicking the guy. It was one of the craziest things I have ever witnessed. The basketball player lost all of his control. Three guys had to stop the fight. The police were called and the basketball player was escorted from the property in handcuffs. A week later, the player had to stand in front of a judge. The guy found a legal attorney to represent him in the case. The attorney fought hard to get the guy a break on the charges. The attorney worked so hard and meticulously, that he won the case and the player didn’t have to spend a single day in jail and he didn’t have to pay a single dollar in restitution to the referee. I don’t believe that it is fair for people with money to get away with crimes, just because they can afford to hire a better attorney. The guy attacked the ref for no reason and in my opinion, he should have at least had to pay damages and serve a few days in jail for assault and battery.
