I cannot express how important it is to have air conditioning on incredibly hot days.
I think central A/C might have saved my grandpa’s life at one point! I have alway thought of air conditioning being important, but after what happened with my grandpa, I think the A/C is a necessity to have on hot days, and dangerous if you don’t have a cooling A/C.
It happened years ago when it was a scorching day. It was probably over 90 degrees or so outside, if not more than that. However, there was yardwork to be done. Since it was in the middle of the summer, the weeds were growing rapidly, which means continually mowing the lawn and plucking the weeds. This is something both of my grandparents were used to doing, however, on such a hot day, my grandmother decided to stay indoors. My grandpa though was more stubborn and wanted to get everything done the same day. Although we tried to convince him not to, he went out and started pulling weeds anyway. 20 minutes later, my grandma found him passed out and she had to drag him back inside. We turned the air conditioning system as far up as it could go and put him right next to the air conditioner. Thankfully he only fainted and got up a few minutes later, but there was no way we were letting him outside again. I am so glad we had great central A/C that day, otherwise he might have had to go to the hospital.
