When it arrived, I proudly presented it to her and finally, she was surprised
Surprising my mother with anything can be honestly difficult. I don’t know what it is, but she often has this intuition that we are going to do something for her, and she is also incredibly good at guessing what it is, even if I had talked about what my plans were. This can be incredibly frustrating sometimes, because it takes away the element of surprise. So I decided to surprise her with something I knew she would never guess. I remembered sometime back she told me about how she was unsatisfied with her current thermostat. This gave me the idea of the smart thermostat, but since her birthday was months away, I wasn’t sure if she would still be interested in a new thermostat by then. So, when her birthday was only a week away, I nonchalantly brought up my own thermostat, to see what she would respond with. She complained about her current thermostat, and how it had started to malfunction, and how she was planning on calling a HVAC specialist out to repair. Now that I knew that she was still interested, I had to act fast. I bought the smart thermostat from the HVAC business website and had it shipped the same day. When it arrived, I proudly presented it to her and finally, she was surprised. I am glad I was finally able to surprise her, and just in the nick of time too, because she already had an appointment with the A/C technician tomorrow. Now all she has to do is get the new thermostat installed!
