I work in an industry that required a lot of movement in order to fast track my career.
My wife was in the same industry so she knew that I had my eye on getting to the zone controlled HVAC of the corporate office. And to do that meant that I had to be willing to pick up and move to whatever problem spot I was sent to fix. Finally, we were told that we’d be in the same spot for a minimum of five years. So we bought a house and fixed it up. The house was really great but it needed plenty of updates. The HVAC equipment was a top priority. And after years of living with subpar residential HVAC, we wanted the best we could get. That’s exactly what the HVAC professionals delivered when we got the new HVAC equipment. It came replete with all kinds of HVAC technology that has provided us with the very best quality heating and air we’ve ever enjoyed. We also did the kitchen, the floors and turned the mundane backyard into a wonderful, natural space to enjoy the outdoors. So when I got summoned to my big boss’s office, I really wasn’t thinking that my new life in my new house was in jeopardy at all. That promise to not be moved happened pre-pandemic and since then, a lot had changed. The company needed me to relocate again for a while. It wasn’t going to be all that long of an assignment and I would eventually be back here. But it sure wasn’t a great conversation to have with my wife.
