It’s a different retirement with a change in HVAC plans

The last few years that I was working inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office, I was working to be sure all was left in good hands.

I knew that I would be retiring and I wanted to be sure that the succession plans were solid.

So, I started working with the big boss two and a half years prior to retirement to find my successor. The woman who we settled on was my top pick and I couldn’t be more thrilled that she would occupy the office I love. Working with her in the that zone controlled HVAC for the past 20 months has been a highlight of my career. When I called it a day, I was both sad to leave that zone controlled HVAC but knew it was in good hands. So it was off to fulfill our retirement plans. Or so I thought. It turned out that our plans of moving south to all that HVAC cooling wasn’t going to happen. We had already upgraded the HVAC equipment in the family home and had sold it for a great price. That was going to happen no matter where we retired. But as we were packing things up, our oldest daughter had our first grandchild. That put the brakes on everything. Luckily, we hadn’t signed the papers on our rental unit down south. So we decided to wait a bit. Well that wait turned into us building a house for just the two of us that came with a geothermal heat pump. We would have had a heat pump down south but with the geothermal heat pump, we now get the benefit of radiant floor heating as well.
