Air conditioning can have negative effects on health, even though it is life saving

There is no doubt that air conditioning can save lives, especially during heat waves or in hot and humid climates.

We know that air conditioning prevents heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Even though air conditioning is a wonderful invention that keeps us cool, comfortable, and alive in many cases, there can be some health issues that air conditioning can cause. To start, air conditioning can actually make you sick if the ventilation is poor and air filters are not cleaned properly. You may experience nausea, headaches, fatigue, trouble concentrating, and more if you are in an air conditioned building that has poor ventilation. This can easily be prevented in your home by changing your air conditioner filters regularly and getting routine HVAC maintenance done to ensure your home is properly ventilated. Air conditioning can also cause dry skin and dry eyes. This is because air conditioning works hard to remove humidity from the air. Because the humidity is removed from the air, it can also remove moisture from your skin and body. To combat the issue of dry skin and dry eyes from air conditioning, make sure you are drinking lots and lots of water. You may also experience irritated nasal passages which can lead to breathing issues. This is also due to the lack of moisture in the air from air conditioning. This problem can be solved by purchasing a humidifier for your bedroom and turning it on while you sleep. Air conditioning is truly an amazing invention that saves many lives. Although A/C can cause minor health problems, most of them have an easy fix.
