I have never been one of those people who knew exactly what I wanted to do from a young age.
So many of my friends knew right away that they wanted to be doctors, teachers, lawyers, etc.
and I was always stuck on what to do after high school. In one of my elective classes at school, we took a career aptitude test that asks questions about your personality and interests to see what career would be a good fit for you. I took the test and one of the careers that came up for me is HVAC technician. I read more about what HVAC technicians do and I was instantly excited about a future in the HVAC field. I have always been good with my hands, I like to help others, and I have some family members who have worked in the HVAC field. I was surprised that I had never thought of a career as an HVAC technician before. Once I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I had to figure out exactly where to go next. I felt confused and a little bit helpless. I started doing some research and found out that in my state, I would need to go to school for 15 months full time to become a certified HVAC technician. This honestly did not sound too bad because I could still live at home with my parents while I went to school to save money. My next step is to apply for school, then to complete my training to become an HVAC technician. I am glad I figured out what I wanted to do with my life.
