I am so proud of my son.
He wants to be just like me. As a father, I would be proud of my kids no matter what they wanted to do, but I have to admit that there is something truly special about having a kid that wants to be just like you. The thing is, I don’t think that what I do is anything particularly special but that is not how my son sees it at all. I work at a local heating and air conditioning company and I go out on calls and repair people’s heating and air conditioning systems when they have a problem. My son knows this, but to him, that is the most amazing job in the world. He doesn’t want to be a doctor or lawyer, he wants to be a heating and cooling guy just like his daddy. He tells me with such enthusiasm that one day he will be an air conditioner guy too, and we will fix heating and air conditioning systems together. It is the sweetest thing. I really hope that he does decide to grow up and follow in my footsteps. I know that there are a lot of kids that go through phases of wanting to be things just like their parents but not all of them follow through with that, in fact I would say most of them go and follow their own path. If my son decides to do that, that is fine, but I can’t help but admire that he wants to be so much like me and I really hope that you can become an HVAC worker like me if that’s what it will really make him happy. Maybe it’s their face, maybe it isn’t but either way I’m going to enjoy this while it lasts.
