I had Jo, my neighbor, tell me that if I wanted our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C company to fail; I should continue doing just what I was doing. I just looked at Jo while thinking that he must be crazy; Why would I want our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C company to fail, & what would make Jo believe that way? Jo smiled & told me to believe about it. That was all I was thinking about, or I would not have called him over. I needed someone to give me ideas on how to build my business & not let it fail. It was after that I realized Jo was giving me the same spiel he offered his customers, but I was his friend. I asked Jo point blank; what did I need to do to make our company grow? He smiled & told me; thanks for asking me! Jo started telling me how I should have a website letting potential customers guess what services I offered. I shouldn’t talk so much about myself and I should talk more about the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C expertise our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C businesses have. Jo looked at me determinedly, like he was trying to hypnotize me, & said that I’m an Heating, Ventilation, & A/C business; not a web developer. Jo told me he was a web developer, & I needed him. I punched him in the shoulder & told him that is why I asked him to come over. Jo started laughing & said that occasionally he got into the online salesperson mode, & this was it. Jo offered to help with the modern website & told me what he normally charged. Jo said he would chop the cost in half for me.
