Are fireplaces worth it?

Are fireplaces worth purchasing, or should I just stick with the oil furnace and save my money? All of my friends have fireplaces, and I have gotten jealous lately about owning a fireplace. Buying a fireplace is something I’ve been trying to convince myself to do, but I don’t have a lot of money. Installing a fireplace in my home will cost a lot, and I want to make sure that purchasing a fireplace is worth it before I pull the trigger. I have a working oil furnace, and I have no complaints about my oil furnace. My oil furnace is pretty new, and it is efficient. Sure, oil furnaces cost money to repair and use in the winter, but I haven’t had to get the oil furnace repaired yet. The only thing oil furnaces don’t have is a good appearance. When your oil furnace is running, it doesn’t draw attention. However, a fireplace is a nice-looking furnace. A fireplace can change the appearance and atmosphere of a room.I assume that it makes conversations and gatherings so much better. If I bought a fireplace, that would be the primary reason why I purchased that furnace. A fireplace is also a great alternative to your oil furnace if the power goes out, but honestly, I don’t think that will matter much. Some people can save money by using a fireplace if they have a bunch of wood on hand, but I don’t have any trees. I would have to purchase the wood for my fireplace, and I suspect that is more costly. I just don’t know if it is worth the price to purchase a fireplace.
