I want to work in art, not for my dad

I’ve known that I wanted to be an artist all my life.

I’ve always loved drawing and painting even when I was a small child.

There is something amazing about putting ideas on paper and making them real and I entirely love it. I believe entirely alive and wonderful when I am working on an art project. When I got old enough to pick an option for an elective at university, I chose art. My mom and dad thought I should have chosen another elective that could teach me more about English, math, or science. When I told my mom and my dad that I was thinking about becoming an artist, my dad told me that I was going to take over managing the heating and A/C repair supplier when I was older. I never heard my dad tell anyone that he wants to leave the supplier to me. It was a complete and total shock when he said that and I could not understand where it was coming from. My dad knew that I wanted to do art and not work on heating and A/C repairs. I like working with my hands and using creativity and I did not see myself working in heating and A/C repairs. My dad told me that all of us could discuss it when I got older and now that time is here. He still wants me to work at the family biz as a repair business rep. He told me I could go to art classes in the night after the real work is over if I was still interested in those childhood dreams. I actually don’t believe what I am going to do next
