Oddly enough, you don't usually have to clean the ductwork

As strange as it may seem, you don’t usually have to clean the ductwork in your home.

Since the ventilation system is a closed circuit, it doesn’t really get all that dirty most of the time.

Some people might think that the inside of the ductwork might be dusty and filled with dirt but that’s not generally the case. I know that once in a while, you really do need to get your ductwork cleaned out. That was the case with us earlier this year because we ended up having some drywall work done in the summer. I didn’t realize it before this, but if you have drywall dust in your house then it just gets sucked right into the ventilation system. The bad thing about that is that whenever your furnace or your air conditioning system kicks on, the drywall dust gets sucked right in again and it happens over and over. I can’t even tell you how many times I dusted my house only to have the whole place covered in a thin white layer of dust all over again later! It was frustrating and finally I ended up calling the local HVAC company to have them come out and clean the ductwork. I asked them about it and they told me that normally you don’t need to have ductwork cleaned. However, when you’re dealing with things like sawdust or drywall dust, it’s always a good idea to get your ventilation system cleaned professionally afterwards. I’m really glad we paid to get it done because then we had no more problems.
