Fair was moved

For the past several weeks I have been preparing for a large craft fair in my area with great excitement and anxiety. It was going to be my very first craft fair ever, and I couldn’t wait to display my pieces for the general public. I have only sold items online before, so showcasing my work in person was a huge deal to me. I couldn’t wait to directly offer my products and receive feedback from other people. Then I got the bad news. The fair was double booked and had to be relocated. Suddenly, the event wasn’t going to be held indoors with the comfort of modern air temperature control systems anymore. Instead, the whole fair was to be moved outdoors. This means I can’t count on ideal air conditions for me or my work anymore. Before, I was blissfully waiting to walk into a large warehouse space and set up my booth in the comfort of adequate central air conditioning. The whole venue would be a brisk 60 degrees, and there would be large fans blowing any hot air back out onto the street. My pieces and I would be safe from heat and humidity, and looking our best for the public. Now, I am having visions of sitting outdoors in the pounding sun all day. I will be sweating through my shirt and desperately fanning myself with brochures. I can assume it will be ridiculously humid, and my products could be affected by the airborne moisture as they sit for hours. If I wasn’t anxious enough for the show before, I certainly am now!
