Glad I’m always over prepared – furnace at hotel

My friends and family are always chuckling about how much worried energy I have, and how deeply I overthink things.

They cherish the fact that I get so stressed out to go to the grocery store that I’ll wind up in a puddle of tears. They taunt me over my inability to decide what to eat at every meal. They think it’s adorable that I always overpack the motorcar to prepare for every worst case scenario, even on short weekend trips, but well, after this past weekend they started giving me a little more credit, after my overthinking saved us from disaster. My nice friend and I were traveling though the mountains and pulled over at a janky hotel when the roads got too dark for safety. The only problem was, when my associate and I entered our odory little room, the air was freezing cold. I mean, literally the indoor air temperature was below 30 degrees upon entering. The front desk clerk told us in a bored tone that the furnace units all worked similarly in the hotel, and he didn’t have another room or boiler to offer us! He was unconcerned with our clattering teeth, and never even gave to call an Heating, Ventilation & A/C specialist or the service department, then everyone was starting to get slightly hysterical, talking about freezing to death in the night and making backup plans to sleep in the motorcar with the heat on all night. That’s when I calmly walked out to the van, rummaged around, and emerged victoriously with a small electric furnace in hand. The space furnace was powerful enough to raise the temperature in our room near 55 degrees, and my associate and I comfortably made it to see afternoonlight. Good thing I was prepared for a total Heating, Ventilation & A/C failure wherever my associate and I travelled.
