Staying at friends house

I felt trapped inside a sweltering oven all night long

Despite living over 600 miles away, I am very lucky to be able to return to my old place of residence quite frequently. Whenever we go back up north for business or family matters, I also get to see all of my very best friends in the world. My friends are so sweet and generous that they always offer us a bed when we roll into town. I am so happy to be able to stay with them, but occasionally it can get uncomfortable to stay at someone else’s house. Just this past visit we were completely destroyed by my friend’s heating and cooling system settings, for instance. When we arrived to his apartment it felt very pleasantly warm, and I was so happy to soak up the moderate air flowing from the air vents. It felt fantastic to be out of the cold and wind outside, and his furnace was evenly warming the entire place efficiently. I didn’t realize, however, that at night this heater would be the death of me. When we laid down to fall asleep, suddenly the indoor air conditions were entirely too hot. I guess my friend doesn’t turn his thermostat down at night, because we were both sweating through the sheets.I tried to open the window for some cool, fresh air, but the window was jammed in the frame. I couldn’t even turn on a fan, because the overhead unit was rocking dangerously when I turned it on for ventilation. I felt trapped inside a sweltering oven all night long. It was a good day, but I was exhausted for the drive home.
