Everyone has to sometimes go to work on the weekends.

It’s the same at our workplace.

When it is our turn to work on the weekend, we try not to complain. We don’t enjoy working on the weekends, but all of us have to take a turn. Last month it was our turn to work on the weekend. Our first appointment was a maintenance tune up for a heat pump and AC. That job took 45 minutes to complete. We grabbed a cup of tea when we were finished with that work. The next appointment on the schedule was only 10 miles away from the other place. We barely had time to sip our hot tea before we were pulling into the driveway of the next Heating, Ventilation and A/C repair. The ladies waiting for us closed the front door, even though they had it wide open when pulled up their driveway. We knocked on the door and the ladies made us show identification before they would let us come inside. We reminded them that they called us and not the other way around. After the ladies finally let us into the beach house, they directed us to where the oil furnace was located. We had to climb through piles and piles of garbage to get to the section where the oil furnace was set up. We didn’t want to do tasks that weekend and we didn’t appreciate the problems we faced. But, we have to work every once in a while just like the rest of the crew. Lucky for us we like what we do.

There are people who head to work on the weekends.

Tom’s workmates and him take turns doing this.

When it’s his turn to work on the weekend, Tom tries not to complain. Not one soul likes working on the weekends, but they each have to take a turn. At the start of last month, it was Tom’s turn to work on the weekend. His first task was a service tune up for a heat pump and cooling unit. That task didn’t take really long to complete. Tom went to get some coffee when he was finished at the first house. The next task on the schedule was only 8 miles away from the other place. Tom barely had time to sip his hot drink before he was pulling into the driveway of the next Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repair. The young girl waiting for him closed the front door, but she had it wide open when Tom arrived. Tom knocked on the door and she made him show identification before she’d let him come inside. Tom reminded the lady that she called him, not the other way around. After the young lady finally led him into the house, she led Tom where the heating system was located. Tom had to climb through piles and piles of garbage to get to the part where the heating system was installed. He did not want to work on a weekend and Tom particularly didn’t like doing so on a Saturday. But, he has to work every once in a while just like the rest of the crew. At least the job is fun, exciting, and interesting for him.

I did not want to work last weekend and I really did not prefer the deliveries I made on Sunday, but I have to work every once in a while just like the rest of the crew. At least the job is fun, exciting, and interesting in every way.

Mom has this structure where she keeps all of the farming equipment.

This structure is guarded on 3 sides.

But, the front is open. During the Winter season weeks, the walls help guard the farm equipment from frigid temperatures, snow and ice. Mom had this small heating unit in there, but it broke down recently. That heating unit was great and would’ve come in handy last weekend, when we received several feet of snow in one day. Mom was taken aback that this happened and the farming equipment froze in the shelter. She was going to take the farm equipment to do some work, but the tractor was completely frozen. Mom said something funny about the frozen equipment, but I saw that she was totally miserable. I rushed inside of the beach house and got a heating unit from the garage. I returned to the structure and plugged it into the wall. I ran an extension cord from the wall up to where the tractor was stored. I grabbed a huge blanket to cover it and kept the heating unit underneath. After an hour, the whole garage and the tractor were finally thawed out and ready for use. Mom kept this heating unit in the barn and says she will use it from time to time when the temperatures are below frigid like last weekend. My idea to get the extra heating unit in the house worked out well.

Billy built this shed where he has all of his farming equipment.

When it’s winter, the walls shelter the farm equipment from freezing temperatures, snow and ice. Billy used to have a small gas furnace in there, however it broke down 3 years ago. This gas furnace would have been handy last winter, when the area received 4 feet of snow in a day. Billy couldn’t believe this had caused the farm equipment to freeze in the shed. He was going to take it outside and do some work on it, but the tractor was completely frozen. Billy had to laugh at this turn of events, but his wife could see that he was totally irritated. She went inside their home and emerged with a portable heating unit. Billy’s wife went back out to the shed and plugged in the heater into the wall socket. She ran an extension cord from the wall to the section where the tractor was sitting. Billy’s wife covered the tractor with a wool blanket and placed the heater underneath next to the tractor. After some time, the whole garage, plus the tractor were finally thawed so Billy could move the machine. He kept the portable heating unit in the barn so he can use it from time to time when the temperatures are below freezing causing tools and equipment to freeze. His wife had come to his aid when Billy was at a loss on what to do.

At one time we had a small heating system there, but it’s since stopped working. The heating system would have been handy last weekend when we experienced the worst snow storm in a long time. We were shocked and surprised that this caused everything in the barn to freeze. We were intending to take the farming machines out to plow the field. But, the tractor was completely frozen. We said something funny about the frozen equipment, but also felt quite annoyed that this had happened. We went inside of the house and came out with another heating system. We went back out to the barn and jammed it into the wall. We ran an extension cord from the wall all the way to the area where the tractor was standing. We had to cover the tractor with a wool blanket and set the heating system under it. About 2 hours later, the entire garage and the tractor were good to go. We saw it fit to keep the heating system in the barn and use it from time to time when the temperatures are below frigid during snowstorms and blizzards. Using this smaller house heating system in the barn was a splendid idea.

The space heating system would’ve been handy last month, when she really received 2 feet of snow in an afternoon. Bobby was shocked and surprised the farm machine froze in the barn. She was going to take the farm machine out to plow the fields, but the tractor was completely frozen. She thought something funny about the frozen equipment, but Bobby was also totally exasperated. She went inside of the farmhouse to get another space heating system from the garage. Bobby went back out to the shed and plugged it into the wall. She ran an extension cord from the wall all the way to the section where the tractor was sitting. Bobby covered the tractor with a wool blanket and added the heating system under it. About 2 and a half hours later, the whole garage and the tractor were finally thawed out and ready for use. Bobby kept the space heating system in the barn and she uses it from time to time when the rapidly increasing temperatures are below cold for many hours. She had a wonderful plan when she decided to fetch the heating system from the house.

I covered the tractor with a wool blanket and I placed the heater under it. About two hours later, the whole garage and the tractor were finally thawed out and ready for use. My dad kept the space heater in the barn and he uses it from time to time when the temperatures are below freezing for more than a day or two at a time. I had a good idea when I decided to fetch the heater from the house.

I have a vision in my head on what my dream home is going to look like.

I want a log apartment style of home with radiant heating, a decorative wood stove, brick floors plus all wood walls. I want it rustic, manly plus fitting to live in the woods. I also want to make a boat dock plus buy a little boat that I can cruise around the water. Right now I don’t have that type of money. It is high-priced building a home plus it takes a long time. I needed an affordable home solution fast. I didn’t want to bother with a mobile home or camper, but then I would be out on that money plus eventually need to sell it. I ended up picking an affordable tiny home solution. I worked with a shipping bag supplier that creates the home exactly the way you want it in their facility. They make everything out of shipping containers plus then drop it off for you. I got to decide where the door goes, how many windows, the outlets, plumbing plus the flooring material. It was amazing how much I got to decide plus for how cheap it was. Is it pretty? No, not really, and but it is functional plus works fantastic for me! As a single man, a tiny home is the ideal solution, however someday I am going to have my dream home plus I will turn that tiny home into a storage device for me. I can make it a home gym plus a locale to keep my tools. Sounds perfect right?
